Our School
Mulgrave Primary School is set on large, well maintained spacious grounds. The school was opened at the present site in 1987 after a long history at the previous site in Wellington Road. In 2009 the school community will celebrate 130 years of Mulgrave Primary School. The school boasts a trademark fitness track which is designed as an outline of the map of Australia. A large modern adventure playground, oval, soccer pitch, basketball and netball courts provide excellent options for student sport and pleasure. The school has an established Information Technology centre and beautifully refurbished library. Each classroom has a bank of computers that meet the current needs of the modern classroom.
2008 saw many changes at Mulgrave Primary School. Ron Major, Principal of the school for 23 years retired. Mrs. Liz Watkins was appointed as Principal in July 2008. The majority of staff at the school are ‘expert’ teachers and have taught at the school for a considerable time. Student enrolment at the beginning of 2008 was 204. Monash Council has projected a slight decline in enrolments in 2009 which is in keeping with the demographics of the surrounding area. It is anticipated that the new development at Waverley Park will increase student enrolment figures in the future. Two relocatable classroom buildings were removed from the school at the end of 2008 as our student numbers did not warrant the number of classrooms we had on site.
